Ukiah-Vichy Springs our visit July 2011

The Vichy Springs Resort is located in Ukiah, Calfornia suitably named and reminiscent of the Vichy, France.   It is most famously known as the "Champagne Baths."   The Vichy Springs Resort is a tiny resort featuring only 26 rooms and cottages in a lovely park setting amidst the natural setting of the Mendocino County.

The resort is 150 years old, having hosted proudly the Ghiradelli family,Ghiradelli family, Presidents Ulysses S. Grant and William Harrison, Teddy Roosevelt and daughter Alice, Mark Twain, Jack London, Robert Louis Stevenson, Jim Corbett and John L. Sullivan.

The attraction of the resort was and continues to be the the naturally carbonated hot springs.  Visitors soak in the warm, bubbling waters and emerge relaxed, rejuvenated and restored.  The carbonated waters are rare.  The invisible carbon dioxide gas result in an increase in blood circulation which provides real health benefits.  The carbon dioxide gas help to expand capillaries near the surface of the skin. Vichy waters have unique characteristics when consumed including the relief of stomach acidity, it's effect is like a natural Alka Seltzer. It is used for stomach ulcers, rheumatism and arthritis.

Other features of the resort include a hot pool heated to 104 degrees, an Olympic size 25 meter swimming pool solar heated, massage and facials.   A No -Smoking policy is strictly enforced in all buildings. The property also features a charming  hiking trail to the waterfalls that power the hot prings and the baths.

The overall feel for the Vichy-Springs Resorts is quaint, cozy and charming.  The resident dog is beautiful sheep dog named " Blue" who follows the guests on the trail to the waterfalls.

Breakfast is served in the mornings.  However the property does not have a restaurant.  Eating locations are easily accessible in the town of Ukiah.

Vichy Springs is perfect for a short day adventure, small getaway or even a small event.
